A Statement of Purpose

In Mimesis on December 8, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Reginald was not important.  He was just another tool, a means to an end, but not the end itself. Elizabeth was the end towards which everything seemed to be working, but she was not the answer. There is a deeper answer only to be discovered by looking into the mirror and seeing what is there. When we look in the mirror as infants we do not recognize ourselves, and so Reginald in his infancy does not recognize what he is. He does not recognize that he is just a tool. He probably thinks this story is all about him, but hopefully he will die long before the story is over.
